The best breakfast food and excellent friendly service! The place was packed! But luckily there was one table for us. I highly recommend the Huevos Divorciados, it comes with a portion of barbacoa that wasn’t too fatty. The lemonade is fresh and the perfect blend of tart and sweet.
Really great food and service. I had a craving for menudo and barbacoa on a Thursday at noon. It was all delicious and their flour tortillas are huge, like bigger than your plate huge.
Delicious Mexican food! Be careful because they will give you what you order! Accidentally order toasted tortillas when I meant to get well cooked instead of toasted ! Lol But everything was yummy almost like mom makes!

We always make an effort to have breakfast at Elva’s when we visit the Rio Grande Valley. It never disappoints!! Delicious flour tortillas, perfectly made huevos rancheros, excellent barbacoa, and perfect migas. Can’t say enough about the awesome and friendly service.💗
Nice little home town restaurant with home cooked meals. The pancakes and eggs with bacon were very good. They are only open till 3pm. But if you sleep late it's a great place to still be able to get breakfast. Very reasonably priced.
Small and intimate family like atmosphere. Giant, and I mean massively Giant tortillas!! We were a group of five who tried everything they had to offer, and all of us were excited about the choices and how delicious each dish was! There was a slight wait but we'll worth it for out 1st time there. It felt like there was a kitchen full of Grandmothers in the back cooking with love! We had tacos, enchiladas. Nachos, coffee, beans, rice and other menu items such as the chili reanos (sp?) Do NOT pass this place up... your taste buds will thank you... Oh, and did I mention the mounds of cheese each dish had? Perfecto!
Very nice staff. Sweet and accommodating. We were looking for a spot to eat as we left the island and this place had wonderful food. They were about to close, but they still served us and were very kind about it.
Elva’s is one of our regular stops whenever we are passing through that part of the Valley, on the way to South Padre Island or when we are headed to the Los Fresnos rodeo. It has become one of those places we actually look forward to working into the trip. For me, the carne guisada burrito is the reason Elva’s stands out. A lot of places in the Valley claim to have carne guisada, but very few make it right anymore. Elva’s does. The meat is tender, the gravy is rich and full of flavor, and it has that real homemade South Texas taste instead of the thin, bland version you get at a lot of other places. It is the kind of burrito that reminds you what carne guisada is supposed to be: simple, hearty, flavorful, and cooked with care. No shortcuts, no watery gravy, no dry meat. Just a proper carne guisada burrito done right. That is why we keep coming back. Elva’s is not just a random stop for us. It is part of the routine whenever we are in the area, and it is absolutely worth the stop.
Small place but very popular so be prepared to wait on the weekends. Menudo had a strong flavor and the honeycomb meat is tender. Large and homemade flour tortillas.
